Caring and Competent Youth Workers

Youth and parents tell us that the most important feature of an out-of-school time program is the positive relationships between youth and caring, competent  program staff or volunteers.  Behind every out-of-school time success story is the concerned, dedicated support of a youth worker. 

Excel Beyond the Bell intends to give our youth workers the skills, knowledge, compensation and recognition they need and deserve through a quality professional development system.  As a result, it is more likely that staff will stay in programs and continue their relationships with youth for a longer time.

Excel Beyond the Bell is helping youth workers develop professional skills and career pathways so that they can better serve children, youth and families.  We are identifying core competencies, skills and knowledge that youth workers need to be successful.
